Research is a mission axis of the university. It enables the production of knowledge of reality, which is fundamental for every institution of higher education, in order to respond to the challenges of training, transfer to the social environment, and environmental preservation.

The Research Directorate is responsible for promoting the development of research and innovation in science and technology at the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of the East (FPUNE), aimed at improving the quality of life of human beings. These actions are in accordance with the regulatory provisions at the national, National University of the East (UNE) and FPUNE levels; through these provisions, policies, areas and research lines are outlined.

  Knowledge Management

  This line is focused on the study of the process by which information is developed, structured and maintained, with the aim of transforming it into a critical asset for decision making.

  Data Engineering

  This line is located in the study of the data value chain, from its generation to its final exploitation, through different analytical methodologies.

• 

  Software Technologies

  This study line is aimed at the analysis, identification, production, implementation, and best practices of software technologies.

• 

  Distributed Systems

  This line focuses on the study of modeling, prototyping, and simulation of different types of distributed systems, in order to optimize their implementation.

  Embedded Systems

  This line covers the study, description of design, manufacture, maintenance of products based on computing systems completely encapsulated by the device that controls it, to perform specific functions.

Research Lines

• 

  Power Systems

  This line covers the treatment of the entire physical system that carries energy in the form of electrical energy: 1) power generation turbines, transmission and distribution lines, and the equipment that interconnects them.

• 

  Industrial Systems

  This line covers the treatment of input processes to generate products by technological means through energy consumption. The treatment of such processes includes the description of design, manufacturing, maintenance under functional conditions, and management of disposal as waste product.

• 

  Energy Management

  This line covers the treatment of the set of actions necessary to optimize energy use while maintaining the same performance or services while increasing energy consumption efficiency. The treatment of such actions includes the diagnosis of the conditions prior to their implementation, the design of their implementation, and the evaluation of their implementation.

  Forms of Energy

  This line covers the treatment of types of energy according to their source: solar, wind, hydraulic, nuclear, fossil; and their characteristics: renewable and non-renewable. The treatment includes the estimation of the energy return rate of the form of energy as a measure of efficiency in its use; the design of a prototype for the exploitation plant of energy and the construction of a prototype for the energy production plant.

Research Lines

  Tourism Planning and Management

  This line of research covers the treatment of the set of tourist attractions and the creation and promotion of tourism programs. The treatment includes the inventory of the heritage of tourist attractions of the place; and the design, implementation, and evaluation of management programs for such tourist attractions.
